drawing challenge 164: grass

the theme of this week 'grass' is once again chosen by VERONICA

the first thing i had to think of was the photo report in the Volkskrant of a few years ago
it's called 'this land is your land, this land is my land' by WassinkLundgren
a dutch artists duo which with this photo report challenged our expectations about 
values, land, and the value of land

the second thing was cows, it's the time of year that the cows for the first time, 
after the winter, go in the meadow, see here  

the etching of a cow is part of my graduation work, i made it in 1994
three sawed pieces etching plate with the print of grass

but my most favorite grass is the grass that Youngest drew me 
when he was about 5 years old
with a muscari  ;^))

drawing challenge: beauty

the theme beauty is chosen by Nadine of tinyWoolf

there is so much beauty around me, for example
the simple forms of our Teema tableware and
the lamp above the dining table i enjoy every day
or the taste of chocolate with caramel and sea salt
and the cello suites of Bach i never get tired of
and my boys, my best artworks

beauty
been observed with all my senses
a matter of taste
beauty lies in the eye of the beholder
the sentence that has been in my head the whole week

when cleaning up the attic before i started painting the walls
i found my etching plates of nearly 20 years ago
and one i hadn't printed before
until today



schoonheid

er is zoveel schoonheid om me heen, bijvoorbeeld
de simpele vormen van ons Teema servies en
de lamp boven de eettafel waar ik elke dag van geniet
of de smaak van chocolade met karamel en zeezout
en de cellosuites van Bach waar ik nooit genoeg van krijg
en mijn jongens, mijn mooiste kunstwerken

schoonheid
waargenomen met al mijn zintuigen
een kwestie van smaak
schoonheid ligt in het oog van de aanschouwer
de zin die de hele week al in mijn hoofd zit

bij het opruimen van de zolder voordat ik de muren ging schilderen
vond ik mijn etsplaten van bijna 20 jaar geleden
en één daarvan had ik nog niet eerder afgedrukt
tot vandaag

drawing challenge: shelter

dear Renilde is our host this week with shelter

I've been thinking a lot about the theme this week
shelter: a beautiful theme, but certainly not an easy one
unfortunately I had a lot of headaches again
then I prefer to lay my head in my arms
be carried and taken care of
and shelter in my bed

etching with drypoint, size 6x6cm, on handmade paper

what I particularly like about the drawing challenge is
that every time again I am challenged
this week, for the first time in yéars, I was busy with etching
and I loved it!

ik heb veel gedacht aan het thema van deze week
shelter-schuilplaats: een mooi thema, maar zeker niet makkelijk
helaas had ik weer veel hoofdpijn
dan wil ik het liefst m'n hoofd neerleggen in mijn armen
gedragen worden en verzorgd
en beschutting vinden in mijn bed

ets met droge naald, afmeting 6x6cm, op handgeschept papier

wat ik zo bijzonder vind aan de drawing challenge is
dat ik elke keer weer wordt uitgedaagd
zo was ik deze week, voor het eerst in járen, bezig met etsen
en ik genoot!

drawing challenge: a pair of....

in 1993 I visited the Vigeland Park in Oslo
it made a big impression, especially the granite statues around the monolith
representing the cycle of life
but the most impressive was a statue inside the museum
of a man sitting cross-legged with in his lap a curled up woman
which he embraces with both arms

for my graduation in 1995 I made this etching (one of a series of 16)
a pair of arms, to hold, to embrace and to carry

drawing challenge: een paar....

in 1993 bezocht ik het Vigeland Park in Oslo
het maakte veel indruk, vooral de granieten beelden rond de monoliet
die de cyclus van het leven uitbeelden
maar de meeste indruk maakte een beeld in het museum
van een man in kleermakerszit met in zijn schoot een opgekrulde vrouw
die hij met beide armen omarmd

voor mijn eindexamen in 1995 maakte ik deze ets (een uit een serie van 16)
een paar armen, om vast te houden, te omarmen en te dragen
