1.5 years later....

instagram came and made me stop blogging
but i miss blogging, the slowness and storytelling of it 
and wonder, is there anybody out there who will read this?
should i start again?

i found this image of a pinboard i made sometime ago 
as an insparation for a series of linocuts
about gardening, memories and flowers
the images are now in a box
for when i have more time....

today for the first time i had the idea
i'm going to make it
i will get this work (for my work!) done 
before the holiday begins
and that feels so nice!
after that there will be time ;^))

despite the tough rain showers
i look at that image
and think of these words:

the snails have a GARDEN PARTY in our garden
which was the theme 
of the last drawing challenge/art challenge
hosted by sweet TAMMIE

i really would like to join the art challenge again
that's why i force myself to be the host  ;^))

the coming weeks 
will be even more filled with work
because i need to finish much 
before the summer holidays
and than there are the headaches 
(probably related to work ;^))
so it's sometimes difficult to focus

in between i work in the garden
enjoying the incredible blue 
of the lupins and delphiniums

so, hence the theme for the 196th challenge of JUNE 11-12:

i haven't found mine yet
after re-starting teaching in August
i am still looking....
but
i can feel the rhythm of my heartbeat
which sometimes skips when i lie awake
pondering about the day to come
i see the rhythm of the seasons
in the bulbs outside and in
the rhythm of the days and nights
white and black
life and death
....

it's the time of the flowering hollyhocks
(and roses too  ;^))
how i love it
normally i pick the seepods
but this year they bloom later
or we are early
therefor i take pictures instead

dear ladies (yes, YOU, YOU and YOU!)
if you are traveling to here next year
we should certainly, alongside Rotterdam and Delft,
wander here for a day

wat hou ik daar van
normaliter pluk ik de zaaddozen
maar dit jaar bloeien ze later
of zijn wij eerder 
daarom neem ik in plaats van foto's

als jullie naar hier reizen volgend jaar
moeten we zeker, naast Rotterdam en Delft,
een dagje hier ronddwalen

what a beautiful day today!
blue skies, sunshine and a fresh breeze
the flowers at the farm are still standing
even after the heavy rains from last night
i pick my first real bouquet of flowers this season
and am happy

wat een mooie dag vandaag!
blauwe luchten, zon en een frisse wind
de bloemen op de boerderij staan nog steeds overeind
zelfs na de zware regenval van gisteravond
ik pluk mijn eerste echte boeket bloemen dit seizoen
en ben blij

after cleaning and declutter the fun part starts:
i make new groups of the things that i love
i buy soft pink magnolia branches 
because our 7 year old tree is still 
to small to cut branches from
and at the end of the afternoon
the sun shines right on those magnolias

na het schoonmaken en opruimen begint het leuke gedeelte:
ik maak nieuwe groepen van de dingen waar ik van hou
ik koop zacht roze magnolia takken
omdat onze 7 jaar oude boom nog steeds
te klein is om takken vanaf te snijden
en aan het einde van de middag
schijnt de zon precies op die magnolia's

there is no school today and youngest and i drink
cardemom coffee (the best!) and hot chocolate

yesterday
she came by train and brought me flowers
i showed her my life and family, my work and studio
we cycled along the forest to the farm and
we even visited my parents briefly

we talked and ate a lot  ;^))
and the day was way too short
bye! sweet sara pirat!!

gisteren
ze kwam met de trein en bracht bloemen voor me mee
ik liet haar mijn leven en familie, mijn werk en werkruimte zien
we fietsten langs het bos naar de boerderij en
we bezochten zelfs kort mijn ouders

we praatten en aten veel  ;^))
en de dag was veel te kort

we hopen je snel weer te zien

playing with the new lens of my camera i enjoy the light in the house

the weather is incredibly mild
i want to work in the garden
(that still looks like a plowed field)
but that is not on my to-do-list
as is the project 'shipping container' i could cross off today
(design a hotel room in a container as part of a bed and breakfast)
that nice commission for a client is ready  ;^))


spelend met de nieuwe lens van mijn camera geniet ik van het licht in huis

het weer is ongekend zacht
ik heb zin om in de tuin te werken
(die er nog steeds uitziet als een omgeploegde akker)
maar dat staat niet op mijn to-do-lijstje
zoals het project 'zeecontainer' dat ik vandaag kon doorstrepen
(ontwerp een hotelkamer in een zeecontainer als onderdeel van een bed and breakfast)
die mooie opdracht voor een klant is klaar  ;^))

in march 2009 i had a weblog for only a few months when i made this pictures
of my collection of small vases
now, five years later, my collection approximately is reduced by half

like Ariane, our sweet host this week, i have almost always flowers in the house
preferable large self-picked bunches, but that will have to wait
for the picking season starts around ascension day


in maart 2009 had ik pas een paar maanden een weblog toen ik deze foto's maakte
van mijn verzameling kleine vaasjes
nu, 5 jaar later, is mijn verzameling ongeveer gehalveerd

net als Ariane, onze host deze week, heb ik vrijwel altijd bloemen in huis
bij voorkeur grote zelfgeplukte bossen, maar dat moet nog even wachten
want het plukseizoen begint pas rond Hemelvaartsdag
