Nadine and i meet the day before
we start at Villa Augustus with coffee and cake
and meet nudes at the Kunsthal in Rotterdam

the next day we meet Ingrid
at the same place as six years ago
so many years and things in between
but it doesn't feel like it

two days full of words and stories,
laughter, food, and friendship

Nadine en ik ontmoeten elkaar de dag ervoor
we starten in Villa Augustus met koffie en taart
en ontmoeten naakten in de Kunsthal in Rotterdam

de volgende dag ontmoeten we Ingrid
op dezelfde plaats als zes jaar geleden
zoveel jaren en dingen er tussenin
maar het voelt niet zo

twee dagen vol woorden en verhalen,
gelach, eten en vriendschap
bedankt! X

for when i have more time....

today for the first time i had the idea
i'm going to make it
i will get this work (for my work!) done 
before the holiday begins
and that feels so nice!
after that there will be time ;^))

ik moest meteen denken aan Daan Roosegaarde
en zijn poëtische project 'waterlicht'
een droomlandschap over de kracht en poëzie van water
een groot deel van Nederland ligt onder zeeniveau
in deze afbeeldingen lijken de mensen het rif  ;^))

nog één drukke week
voordat ik in rustiger water kom

rhythm
i haven't found mine yet
after re-starting teaching in August
i am still looking....
but
i can feel the rhythm of my heartbeat
which sometimes skips when i lie awake
pondering about the day to come
i see the rhythm of the seasons
in the bulbs outside and in
the rhythm of the days and nights
white and black
life and death
....
circles

that beautiful blue moon is hanging on my wall
and the circles come from the book by Inez van Oord

my life a circle
with it's own rhythm

the last day of the year....

looking back, reminisce, remember and rethink
the good and the lesser things....

it was a tough year
some losses....
but also some positive things, like my new job!
and thanks to the travel time of three hours on a working day
i read a lot, over 70 books; ^))

'To kill a Mocking Bird' Harper Lee (again ;^))
'Man with a Blue Scarf, on sitting for a Portrait by Lucian Freud' Martin Gayford
rereading all books by Marianne Fredriksson and loved them again
'The history of Love' Nicole Krauss
and last but not least
the book by Merlijne Marell 'Schobbejacques en de 7 geiten' (only in dutch but so worth it!!)

en ik wilde echt meedoen en tekenen
maar ik deed het niet

i used to have these stones
in my pocket
nowadays i carry them in my bag
a rose quartz: strengthens the heart

a lazurite: relieves headaches

the rose quartz was a gift which
my youngest son once gave to me
and tomorrow we celebrate his
15th birthday
hooray!!


ik had vroeger deze stenen
in mijn 'pocket'
tegenwoordig draag ik ze in mijn tas
een rozenkwarts: versterkt het hart
een bergkristal: voor meer energie
een lazuriet: verlicht hoofdpijn

de rozenkwarts was een geschenk die
mijn jongste zoon ooit gaf aan mij
en morgen vieren we zijn
15e verjaardag

i am six days late with this monthly quote
my new job consumes all my time
i miss my days in my studio ....
however, the work is fun, the students great, my colleagues nice
i slowly get into a rhythm
slowly i get more time for the things i also love


ik ben zes dagen te laat met deze maandelijkse quote
mijn nieuwe baan verslindt al mijn tijd
ik mis mijn dagen in mijn studio ....
maar, het werk is leuk, de studenten geweldig, mijn collega's fijn
ik kom langzaamaan in een ritme
langzaam krijg ik meer tijd voor de dingen waar ik ook van hou

normally i pick the seepods
but this year they bloom later
or we are early
therefor i take pictures instead

dear ladies (yes, YOU, YOU and YOU!)

we should certainly, alongside Rotterdam and Delft,
wander here for a day

het is de tijd van de bloeiende stokrozen

wat hou ik daar van
normaliter pluk ik de zaaddozen
maar dit jaar bloeien ze later
of zijn wij eerder 
daarom neem ik in plaats van foto's

lieve dames, (ja, JIJ, JIJ en JIJ)
als jullie naar hier reizen volgend jaar
moeten we zeker, naast Rotterdam en Delft,
een dagje hier ronddwalen

ik herlees boeken en
draag een t-shirt in een fijne blauwe kleur

printing with NADINE

and than NADINE came for a few days

on one of those days we worked in my studio
together we came up with a fine sentence
then typesetting with my old wood type
but because i have little letters
there were three print runs before it was ready

NADINE happily worked with miss Stuttgart
and i enjoyed her company

we printed with gold printing ink based on linseed oil on A4 sized artist paper

P.S. 
i do not have facebook at the moment
but, i am working on it



en toen kwam NADINE voor een paar dagen

op een van die dagen werkten we samen in mijn studio
samen bedachten we een fijne zin
daarna letterzetten met mijn oude houten drukletters
maar omdat ik maar weinig letters heb
waren het drie drukgangen voordat het klaar was

NADINE werkte met veel plezier met miss Stuttgart
en ik genoot van haar gezelschap

we drukten met gouden drukinkt gebaseerd op lijnzaadolie op A4 formaat artist paper

P.S.
ik heb geen facebook op het moment
maar daar werk ik aan

this is (not) Delft

so far i have printed the first two layers blue
one lino block and the reduce method
for the third and last layer
which will be a nude (of course  ;^))
i'm going to use a new lino block

just a few more days
before the exhibition 'this is (not) Delft'
at Galerie XS



tot dusver heb ik twee lagen blauw afgedrukt
één lino blok en de reduceer methode
voor de derde en laatste laag
die een naakt zal zijn (natuurlijk; ^))
gebruik ik een nieuw lino blok

nog slechts een paar dagen
voor de opening van 'this is (not) Delft'
bij Galerie XS

to exchange experiences
talking about how we work and what we do and love
and to create a proof print of her linocut
on different types of paper with my favorite printing ink

among other paper cuts, screen prints and stamps
